" As an artist, I have an obligation
to my peers,
As a painter, I have an obligation to myself.
As a teacher I have an obligation to my students."

I am constantly painting in my mind
Can you think outside of the box?
TO CONVEY HOW I FEEL WHEN I PAINT.
WHAT A TASK SINCE WORDS ARE NOT MY FORTE I TURN TO THE BRUSH..
SO OFTEN, I FEEL IT IN MY HEART,
I SEE IT IN MY MIND`S EYE....BUT HOW
DO I GET IT OUT OF THAT PLACE AND
ONTO THE CANVAS?
I HAVE THE TECHNICAL SKILLS, THAT`S NOT THE
PROBLEM.
HOW DOES ONE PAINT AN EMOTION?
HOW DO YOU MAKE PEOPLE SEE
WHAT YOU SEE AND FEEL?
CONTEMPLATION - THE ARTIST WITHIN

The frustration of being a painter, of course, relates to the fact that you are your own worst critic, you strive to make the reason in the painting as complete and true as possible. However, some of the frustration is not in the perfection of one piece of work, but the frustration of no time to work. All to often, while working on a painting, your mind is composing a new one. You are torn between stopping work on the one, and beginning the new. And this continues through your life - the frustration of not having enough time to finish all that you conceive. |
The brush is an extension.... the result is art
