WHAT IS A FATHER ?
According to
the dictionary
it's the male that contributed DNA to the formation of the child.
The definition is technically correct but nowhere near the whole story.
Making a baby/being the sperm donor is far from making you a "DAD".
Remember, dads
are also
husbands, brothers, sons, uncles, grandfathers, and friends.

HERE IS MY TRIBUTE TO THE DADS OUT THERE
A father
is a guiding light through all the early years,
he cheers you on to higher goals, he comforts childhood's fears . . .
He's the solver of many problems, the coach of many teams,
the teller of many stories, the sharer of many dreams . . .
He's the mender and the fixer whenever things get broken,
he cares when you are serious, and he laughs when you are joking . . .
He's an endless source of wisdom, your friend your whole life through -

He
growls when he feels good and laughs
very loud when he is scared half-to-death.
A father never feels entirely worthy of the worship in a child's eyes.
He is never quite the hero his daughter thinks.
Never
quite the man his son believes him to be.
And this worries him sometimes.
(So he works too hard to try to smooth the rough places
in the road of those of his own who will follow him.)
And,
while mothers cry where it shows,
fathers stand and beam -- outside -- and die inside.
Fathers
are men who give daughters away to other men,
who aren't nearly good enough,
so that they can have children that are smarter than anybody's.
Fathers fight dragons almost daily.
They
hurry away from the breakfast table,
off to the arena which is sometimes called an office or a workshop.
There, with callused hands, they tackle the dragon with three heads;
Weariness, Work, and Monotony.
And they never quite win the fight, but they never give up.
I don't
know where father goes when he dies,
but I've an idea that, after a good rest,
wherever it is, he won't just sit on a cloud
and wait for the girl he's loved
and the children she bore. He'll be busy there too --
repairing the stars,

There is nothing that moves a loving father's soul quite like his child's cry.... A father's thoughtfulness or thoughtlessness will be reproduced in his children.... It's never too late to start being a good dad..... The simple truth is that fathers are irreplaceable in shaping the competence and character of their children.... A daughter gets from her mother all the mothering stuff, but she gets from her father how she feels about her own worth.... The great man is he who does not lose his child's heart...
