INVICTUS

Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

When I look into space
the wonder in the skies,
I see beauty and truth
and a love that never dies.
And when I look in a drop
of water very small
There are worlds within worlds.
His care is with them all.

I want to dedicate this page to this beautiful young woman whom I have never met.

After reading her story I feel I know her, as she sounds so much like my own daughters.
This young woman was stalked and murdered by someone with a sick sick mind.
Her Aunt Linda visited my site one day and emailed me with the address of her site
which depicts this sad sad story and a dangerous one. Unfortunately, the link no longer works.
Amy's story touched my heart deeply as I have two
daughters of my own around Amy's age and can only imagine
what it would be like to lose such a wonderful daughter in such a horrific manner.

Amy, you are the stars, you are the evening breeze,
you are the fragrance of a wildflower, because you are with God and his Angels.

The Poem "INVICTUS" was written by William Ernest Henley and published in 1875,
and may have been anticipated by two earlier poems written by him but never
published. These poems are "A Love by the Sea" and "A Thanksgiving,"
dated September of 1872 and September of 1875,
respectively. Both poems share similar aspects of "Invictus," and
both possess strikingly similar wordings.

I have been on holidays for the past two weeks
and I'm in my site to "fix" links that no longer exist.
Unfortunately, the link to Amy's memorial site no longer works
All this week CNN has been full of reports of kidnapped and
murdered children and even their parents.
What the heck is going on with our society?
We must take a minute here to reflect on manKIND and ask ourselves
why do some people need to snuff out the life of others?
And rob them of the gift of life and the right to live it.
I will never understand it. NEVER!! It is so so sad. O:-(.
